2 weeks already?!

I can't believe Brock is already two weeks old. He is doing amazing and Aaron and I could not be more in love. I started pumping and giving Brock breast milk from a bottle about a week after we got home. We were having issues with him latching on and he kept falling asleep. I felt like he was on my boob all the time. We are all much happier now that he is getting a full tummy each time he eats and Mommy's boobs are not being treated as pacifiers anymore! He is sleeping really well and would probably sleep through the night if I didn't have to wake him up to feed him every 3-4 hours. He has an appointment with his pediatrician this week and if he has gained all of his weight back I wont have to wake him up to feed anymore!!! He is such a good baby! Aaron and I are so blessed!

Our friend Abby who took my maternity pictures took some newborn pictures of Brock. They turned out so cute! Thank you so much Abby! You did an amazing job- As always!!!

Welcome to the world Brock Christian!

On Wednesday April 7th I called my OB around 3:00 because I had only felt Brock kick 3 times since 11:00. They told me I needed to head to the hospital just to make sure everything was fine. I called Aaron and told him he needed to meet me there. When I checked in they told me my blood pressure was really high and that they need to admit me… baby was ready to come. We waited in triage for a while until a room was available and finally around 10 PM they started me on Cervadil to soften my cervix and start contractions. This was the most painful part of the whole labor and delivery. It was the worst cramping you could imagine. They gave me some pain medicine that made me really loopy and dream in cartoons… Not fun! Finally 12 hours later they took the Cervadil out and decided to send me to labor and delivery. When I checked in to the hospital I was 60% effaced and only a finger tip dilated. After 12 hours of Cervadil I was only 2cm and 70% effaced. I was so disappointed I hadn’t made more progress. Once I was in labor and delivery they started the Pitocin. It took from about 1:00 to 7:00 for me to have regular contractions and to go from 2 to 3 cm. Around 8:00 the Doctor broke my water and things began to progress quicker after that. I got my epidural about 30 minutes later. It was glorious. I was terrified about getting the epidural but I didn’t even feel it go in. I took a nap and when I woke up I told the nurse I was feeling a lot of pressure. Sure enough I was 10 cm and ready to push. I pushed for about 20 minutes and at 11:47 PM on April 8th Brock Christian was born! He weighed 6 lbs 13 ozs and was 20 inches long. I got a fever after delivery and Brock and I both had to start antibiotics. Because of the antibiotics we had to stay in the hospital for an extra 48 hours, which sucked! But we are both healthy and I can’t imagine my life without him now!
