I'm Baaaaack!!!

So we've been MIA for a while and ton has happened. I think we really lucked out with this one! He is finally to the point where he's not just eating, sleeping and pooping. He's so much fun! His daycare teachers always talk about how strong and smart he is and of course agree but I'm his Mom! So here's a little bit of what Brock has been up to this month....

He smiles and laughs. It's probably the cutest thing ever!

He rolls over both ways. Ms. Maria says he's going to be crawling soon and that I have mixed feelings about.

He loves to talk to us. It's like he's carrying on a full conversation with you! There is a 6 month old in his class that Brock likes to talk to. There is a big play mat in the middle of the floor and a bunch of bouncers and little gyms all around it. Ms. Maria said that Michael, Brock's little friend, was sitting on the play mat in front of Brock's bouncer and they were "talking" to each other. I could have died! I think they were probably calling dibs on the little girls. LOL!

He's up to 5oz every 3 hours. We're trying to get him to eat more and less often so he can go longer at night without a feeding. We're making progress!

He hits and kicks the toys on his play mat I don't think it's on purpose yet, but still. He still isn't holding anything other than our fingers and burp clothes or blankets but I'm hoping that is coming soon. I can't wait for him to actually play with his toys. He plays so hard he wares himself out!

He loves to look at himself in the mirror. Sounds a lot like someone I know- Love you Aaron!

Had his 1st 4Th of July. He was such a rock star he stayed up the whole night and sleep in the next day. Which was nice because Mommy and Daddy weren't feeling so hot...

Had his 1st trip to the beach which was also my 1st post baby girls weekend. He didn't care for the ocean or the sand but he loved the pool. I have to agree with him on that. While the beach is beautiful, it's not so much fun when you have sand in your diaper and salt water drying out your baby soft skin. We'll stick to the pool overlooking the beach!

I can't wait for his 4 month check up. I mean I hate that he will have to get more shots but I'm really curious to see how big he's gotten. I feel like he has grown so much. I want to see if he's ready for baby food. I want to get a better gage on just how good his head control is so he can play in his exersaucer.

On another note.... The house! It's a work in progress. Here are some pictures of what we've done so far. We haven't finished the living room or the master bed or bath and we still need to get a new kitchen table for our little nook but here is just a taste....

Ok. Just a few more pictures... I swear!

Brock and one of his Great Grandmas. She's really not doing well so he was so excited she got to meet him before she passed away. She even went to the beauty salon in the nursing home and got her hair done so she looked pretty when she met him. She's so sweet!

2 Months!!!

I can't believe it. Our little monkey man is already 2 moths old. We have all had a crazy month and life is finally starting to settle down a bit.

Here is a taste of what we've been up to this month...

We closed on our house! Yep, the one we waited nearly 8 months for… we finally moved in. I’m so in love with the house, the neighborhood, the neighbors… It’s all perfect. There are kids and young families all around us and it’s going to be a great place for Brock to grow up. And who knows I may even talk Aaron into trying one more time for a girl!

Brock started daycare. I love it and he seems to be happy there too! His teachers are wonderful… well I love all of them but one. His afternoon assistant teacher seems kind of cold towards me but she’s great with the kids so I guess that’s what’s most important. Ms. Maria is a doll and Brock loves her. Every morning when I drop him off she has the biggest smile and gives him a huge hug and Brock just smiles and stares at her. They have him on a schedule already too! Since he has started he eats much better and sleeps through the night! I could not be happier with them.

I’m back at work. The 1st day was hell. I cried the whole way to work, then found out my Grandfather passed away and had to catch up on all of my work. Talk about a rough one. Each day back has been easier than one before and I love that I can watch Brock online when ever I want. I’m so happy to have adult interaction and my social life back. I have less time with Brock now but I value the time I do have with him and I enjoy him much more now that I’m back at work. God bless all you stay-at-home-moms… You have way more patience than I will ever have!

Brock’s milestones…

•He’s getting better and better at holding his head up
•Got his 2 month shots and cried for 4 hours straight… fun stuff!!!
•Had his first plane ride & handled it like a champ
•Started daycare
•Smiles at you not just when he poops!
•Sleeps through the night **knocking on wood**
•Loves to “sit” & “stand” up so he check everything out… He’s so alert
•Survived his 1st runny nose
•Outgrew his newborn clothes and diapers. He’s now in 0-3 month clothes & level 1 diapers. He’s getting so big!
•He’s starting to coo
•He weighs about 9 pounds
•Still has tons of dark hair

1 month

I can't believe our little monkey man is already a month old. People said the time would fly by but I refused to believe them. Only 2 short weeks until I go back to work and Brock is off to daycare. He is so amazing in every way. I never knew I could love so deeply.

What Brock has been up to this month...

. Rolling from his back to side with ease
. Holding his head up like a champ
. Eating almost 4 ozs!
. Developing his own personality
. Making and holding eye contact
. Smiles... mostly when he poops and farts. Such a boy!
. Pushes with his legs during tummy time
. Starting to coo
. Sleeping for 4 hour stretches... but only when HE wants to... I have no say in this!
. He won our hearts with the 1st breath he took and continues to amaze us each and every day.

I love you Brock and I can't wait to see what joy and happiness you bring to our lives.

2 weeks already?!

I can't believe Brock is already two weeks old. He is doing amazing and Aaron and I could not be more in love. I started pumping and giving Brock breast milk from a bottle about a week after we got home. We were having issues with him latching on and he kept falling asleep. I felt like he was on my boob all the time. We are all much happier now that he is getting a full tummy each time he eats and Mommy's boobs are not being treated as pacifiers anymore! He is sleeping really well and would probably sleep through the night if I didn't have to wake him up to feed him every 3-4 hours. He has an appointment with his pediatrician this week and if he has gained all of his weight back I wont have to wake him up to feed anymore!!! He is such a good baby! Aaron and I are so blessed!

Our friend Abby who took my maternity pictures took some newborn pictures of Brock. They turned out so cute! Thank you so much Abby! You did an amazing job- As always!!!

Welcome to the world Brock Christian!

On Wednesday April 7th I called my OB around 3:00 because I had only felt Brock kick 3 times since 11:00. They told me I needed to head to the hospital just to make sure everything was fine. I called Aaron and told him he needed to meet me there. When I checked in they told me my blood pressure was really high and that they need to admit me… baby was ready to come. We waited in triage for a while until a room was available and finally around 10 PM they started me on Cervadil to soften my cervix and start contractions. This was the most painful part of the whole labor and delivery. It was the worst cramping you could imagine. They gave me some pain medicine that made me really loopy and dream in cartoons… Not fun! Finally 12 hours later they took the Cervadil out and decided to send me to labor and delivery. When I checked in to the hospital I was 60% effaced and only a finger tip dilated. After 12 hours of Cervadil I was only 2cm and 70% effaced. I was so disappointed I hadn’t made more progress. Once I was in labor and delivery they started the Pitocin. It took from about 1:00 to 7:00 for me to have regular contractions and to go from 2 to 3 cm. Around 8:00 the Doctor broke my water and things began to progress quicker after that. I got my epidural about 30 minutes later. It was glorious. I was terrified about getting the epidural but I didn’t even feel it go in. I took a nap and when I woke up I told the nurse I was feeling a lot of pressure. Sure enough I was 10 cm and ready to push. I pushed for about 20 minutes and at 11:47 PM on April 8th Brock Christian was born! He weighed 6 lbs 13 ozs and was 20 inches long. I got a fever after delivery and Brock and I both had to start antibiotics. Because of the antibiotics we had to stay in the hospital for an extra 48 hours, which sucked! But we are both healthy and I can’t imagine my life without him now!

37 weeks

• How far along: 37 weeks
• Weight gain: Ha! We’re not going to talk about this!
• Maternity clothes: Yep
• Belly button in or out: Still hasn't "popped"
• Sleep: I’m up several times a night but I have been feeling refreshed in the mornings. Too bad it only lasts till lunch time!
• Stretch marks: I think I might have one. I found a dark spot on my side… I’m not really sure if it’s a stretch mark or not
• Food cravings: Cookies- any kind
• Movement: I knew he was pretty active but the doctor started me on kick counts last week and I have at least 60 per day! I was shocked.
• Labor signs: As of today I am a finger tip dilated and 65% effaced.
• What I'm looking forward to: Not being pregnant any more!!!
• What I miss most: sleeping on my tummy, having a drink, tanning, my shoes fitting, clothes with out elastic… Can you tell I’m OVER it?!
• Miles stones: I’m “full term” today! Brock’s lungs should now be fully developed and it’s considered safe for him to come when he wants now! Yay I’m almost done!!!

Non-baby news:

Our new living room furniture will be delivered tomorrow! I'm so excited!!! Even though we haven't moved yet it will at least feel like a whole new house!

We got word that the owners "people" finally got in contact with someone at Freddie Mac and they are willing to help "rush approval." now we are going on 5 months and we're just now getting this so I'm not sure they know what rush means but hey I'll take what we can get!

36 Weeks

We started our weekly appointments Friday and had a growth ultra sound. We didn't really get any good pictures because he's so big he's all squished up in there, but I'll post the ones we got... He is very healthy and measuring right on track. He weighs 5 lbs 10 ozs right now and they said he should gain 1/2 lb every week until he's born so we're looking at a 7 pounder! I haven't made any progress yet, which the doctors says is good but doesn't really matter because things can change pretty much instantly. As of this coming Friday Brock will be considered full term and they won't do anything to stall labor if I should go early. We finished the little guys nursery this weekend & we are just super excited to meet him! I can't believe how fast this has gone by! I will be a Mommy in less than a month!!!

Happy Anniversary to us!!!

Our 1st wedding anniversary is Saturday! I can't believe we have been married for a year already.... Where had the time gone?! Aaron and I are taking tomorrow off work to sleep in, go to our doctor's appointments and then start celebrating our anniversary. I'm so excited for some quality time and a long weekend! I have the best boss ever! Here are a few of my favorite wedding pictures in honor of the big day!
